Q. What are your fees and payment terms?
A. Our fees and payment terms are agreed for each service we provide in advance of our appointment. The fees will vary from project to project depending on the time taken, expenses incurred and level of staff expertise required to provide the service. Payment terms will normally be 14 days in arrears, however, other terms can be agreed at the appointment stage.
All of our fees are subject to VAT at the applicable rate (17.5%).
Q. How do I appoint Act Surveyors LLP?
A. Act Surveyors LLP can be appointed by giving a formal instruction to us. This instruction or appointment will usually be made in writing by post, fax or e-mail, however, verbal appointments will also be accepted in certain circumstances. For any legal appointments such as appointing a party wall surveyor the appointment must always be in writing. We will confirm the fee payable together with relevant terms and conditions at this stage.
Q. Can we contact you to discuss any matter further?
A. We welcome all of our clients or potential clients to contact us to discuss any matter that they wish to. We will endeavour to assist with all enquiries made to us be telephone, letter, fax or e-mail in the as soon as possible. You may also meet us in person at any of our offices if necessary, however as we are busy professionals we would advise that you make an appointment before arriving.
Q. Are you a quality assured firm?
A. We are not yet a quality assured firm in accordance with current ISO 9000 procedures but do intend to obtain formal approval in the next 6-12 months. We are currently working to our own internal company quality system and procedures that ensures we provide a high quality service at all times. We have a system of quality management procedures in place that requires a formal review of all services provided by senior management that ensures all clients receive the best professional advice.
Q. Do you work in my area?
A. We will work in any area required by our clients. We can provide all of our services in all areas of the UK and even overseas if required. Our services are managed from our regional offices and these can be seen on the contact us section of this website.
Q. Do you work on large and small projects?
A. We work on all types and sizes of project and provide our services for all types of client. We do not pick and choose the type of projects we work on or the type of clients we work for and all services we provide are the best possible we can offer to suit the client. We have and continue to provide our services to multi national clients in connection with commercial and industrial buildings and home owners for residential dwellings. Larger projects include multi million pound developments and our smaller projects include alterations to houses and flats.
Q. When does CDM 2007 apply and become notifiable?
A. CDM 2007 applies to all duty holders differently according to the regulations and you should contact us for advice. A project is notifiable (to the HSE) where the construction works lasts more than 30 days or 500 man-days from commencement to completion. If a project is notifiable a CDM Co-ordinator must be appointed before the commencement of any design work.
Q. What are your company's house details?
A. Act Surveyors LLP are a registered company in England and Wales as an LLP number 0C31 6551. Our registered office address is 60 Kings Walk, Gloucester GL1 1LA. We are VAT registered and our VAT registration number is 8744 694 75.
Q. Do you have a complaints procedure?
A. We have a complaints procedure in accordance with our professional membership rules and guidance. If you have a complaint about a service we have provided please contact your nearest regional office manager in the first instance. If you wish to make a formal complaint, please contact our Gloucester office and ask for a copy of the formal complaints procedure. We consider any complaint to be a serious matter and our senior management team will discuss any potential complaint with you before a formal complaint is made.
